Examine issues affecting families

If you are passionate about people, then our Bachelor of Human Services (Child and Family Studies) will put you on the right path to working with your community. Combining a range of courses in psychology, education and counseling, you will examine the issues that impact families and children within our society.

This degree involves theory, field practicum, as well as work experience in a human services agency of your choice, providing you with the broad knowledge base and skill set needed to work in this field.

Professional accreditation

USQ is currently seeking accreditation with the Australian Community Workers Association (ACWA).

If you successfully complete 400 hours of professional placement you will be eligible for ACWA accreditation. If you don’t wish to undertake the three professional placement courses, or if you're studying overseas, you can complete three other approved courses.

Career outcomes

This degree will provide you with a solid foundation to work in community organizations. You will be equipped to work in the government and public service sectors as well as in community organizations as a community development worker, counselor, welfare advocate and support worker.
