Become a disability and health care worker of the future
Are you interested in the wellbeing of others and a role within government, community or health and social care organizations? With a Bachelor of Human Services (Health and Wellbeing) from USQ you will acquire knowledge and skills to organize services and case manage people with a disability or the healthy older person. Your studies will look at assessment and support strategies to assist people to maintain independence and quality of life.
This program will explore a variety of best practice methods to ensure individuals sustain a quality of life at home or in the community. You will gain a comprehensive understanding of social wellbeing, disability care, healthy ageing, assessment of individuals and families, counseling and provision of services.
Practical experience
You will gain valuable experience in the areas of disability, rehabilitation and healthy ageing by completing 400 hours of professional experience placements. Students will be required to provide the following to USQ.

As a graduate of this degree you will possess skills in assessment, rehabilitation, case management and organizing services as well as leadership and entrepreneurship. You will be well-equipped to be a leader within the health care sector to meet future demands and requirements following the implementation of Australia’s National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Professional accreditation
The Bachelor of Human Services (Child and Family Studies) is accredited with the Australian Community Workers Association (ACWA).
If you successfully complete a minimum of 400 hours of professional placement (fieldwork) courses you will be eligible to apply for ACWA accreditation. You will need to attend a mandatory 3-day residential school as part of the ACWA accreditation requirement.

IELTS (Academic only) - 6.0 (or better) (no component lower than 5.5); TOEFL (paper based) - 550 (or better) (with a minimum Test of Written English Score of TWE 4.5); TOEFL (electronic or computer based) - 213 (or better) (with essay rating of at least 4.5); TOEFL (internet based) - 80 (or better) (with 19 minimum in all bands); Pearson (PTE Academic) - 50 (or better) (with no communicative score less than 50); Cambridge English Scale Scores for FCE, CAE and CPE3 - Cambridge English: First (FCE) with a score of 169 or above. No less than 162 in each skill.
