Tailor the course to suit your needs

Build practical knowledge and skills for professionals in, or looking to transition into, policy making and management across the spectrum of public, private and not-for-profit sector activities.

Choose from two specialisations: Global studies or Policy studies. Depending on your choice you will graduate with either a Master of Global Public Policy, or a Master of Public Policy.

Learn about the elements of public policy - policy analysis, implementation, evaluation, and governance as well as the context of contemporary public policy.

Develop your understanding of the processes of policy formation, the delivery of policy programs, and the political and structural realities that influence policy decision-making.

Pursue your interest in graduate research (PhD) study via the optional Research Pathway. (Eligible high achieving students may apply to undertake a research thesis)

Build essential career competencies via our Professional Enhancement Program (PEP) and choose from a suite of unique modules taught by academic and industry experts.

The teaching in the Master of Public Policy reflects the breadth, depth and standing of Monash as a world-class university. You'll learn from recognised public policy experts from faculties across the university specialising in key policy domains, including sustainability and the environment, urban policy, health, public finance, transport and infrastructure, diplomacy and trade, regulatory policy and organisational leadership.

Our course advisory board of outstanding practitioners in major policy fields supports the program and collaborates with teaching staff to ensure that the student learning experience is always relevant and has real-world application.

TOEFL Internet-based test: 79 Overall score, with minimum scores: Reading 13, Listening 12, Speaking 18 and Writing 21
