Ne öğreneceğim?

The master’s programme Physics at the University of Bayreuth encourages early involvement in research. The programme fosters an array of abilities and skills, in particular an advanced scientific understanding of the subject matter at high international standards, the ability to carry out scientific work independently, as well as additional key skills, such as project management, teamwork, and presenting complicated matters clearly.

Achieving Success with Creativity

The study of physics at a high academic level requires plenty of space for creativity. For this reason, the master’s programme Physics at the University of Bayreuth gives students a great deal of freedom in selecting their concentrations, for example by way of specializations in the fields of biological physics, solid state physics, nonlinear dynamics, soft matter physics, or the physics of molecular systems. The students’ own initiatives are also actively supported. With the guidance and supervision of experienced teaching staff, students can select their concentrations to develop a demanding individualized curriculum that includes a period spent abroad. Our walkable campus fosters collaboration between professors and junior scholars in our well-equipped laboratories.

But wait – there’s more!

As of Winter Semester 2016/17, the University of Bayreuth offers the new interdisciplinary programme "Biological Physics" as part of the Elite Network of Bavaria that can be completed alongside the master’s programmes “Physics” or “Biochemistry & Molecular Biology”. This programme gives students with a keen interest in physics, biochemistry, and biology the opportunity to complete a jointly coordinated, interdisciplinary, research-oriented supplemental programme at the intersection of physics and biology.

Career Prospects

Investigating complex interrelationships in the natural sciences provides students with skills that are currently in high demand in science, technology, development, industry, and administration. More and more, physics is considered to be an indispensable factor in innovation in a broad spectrum of occupational fields. Demand for physics graduates is expected to grow 50% over the next 15 years. For this reason, a programme of study geared towards current research topics provides an excellent basis for launching your career.

Successful graduates can pursue doctoral research and participate in a structured doctoral programme, e.g. in the framework of the Bayreuth Graduate School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences (BayNAT). A fast track option to the doctoral programme is available.
