The Faculty of Economics and Management (FEP) (erstwhile The Faculty of Resource Economics and Agribusiness) was first established in January 1974, as the fourth faculty in Universiti Putra Malaysia (erstwhile Universiti Pertanian Malaysia). It was established in response to the needs for competent professionals in the fields of Agribusiness and Resource Economics.
Master of Science in the field of Economics aims at training students in economic theory, quantitative methods and several areas of specialization in economics. Research in microeconomics and macroeconomics focuses on the economics of information, financial economics, development economics, international economics, labour economics, health economics, and environmental and natural resource economics. The econometrics group has particular interest in econometric methodology, econometric modelling, time-series and panel data analysis. The program prepares students with knowledge and research capability in one of the five areas of specialization; Financial Economics, Development Economics, Industrial Economics, International Economics, and Resource and Environmental Economics.

Candidates should have:
A bachelor degree with minimum CGPA of 3.00 on a 4-point scale from institution recognized by UPM or;
Work experience of at least 2 years if CGPA less than 3.00 or;
Work experience of 5 years or more if CGPA less than 2.50
For applicants with one of the following
550 for the TOEFL Paper-based Test (Academic Version); or
Band 6.0 for IELTS (Academic Training); or
79-80 for TOEFL Internet-based Test (Academic Version); or
Level 109 for CIEP at ELS Language Centre; or
Any English Language Test which is equivalent to B2 in Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
