Gerontechnology is an interdisciplinary academic and professional field combining gerontology and technology. Research and development in this field aims to create technological environments, including assistive technologies and inclusive designs, for innovative and independent living as well as social participation of older people in good health, comfort and safety. The research focuses on matching technology and built environment in the aspects of health, housing, mobility, communication, work, leisure and recreation of older people. Research outputs form the basis for designers, builders, engineers, and health professionals (geriatrics, nursing, public health, environmental psychology etc.) to provide optimum living environments for the widest range of ages, including preventions of age-related functional decline, enhancing performance of older people and assisting the caregivers.

The applicant should possess:
A Master Degree (by coursework) in a relevant field with a minimum grade average of B, or
A Master Degree by research in a relevant field.
For applicants with one of the following
550 for the TOEFL Paper-based Test (Academic Version); or
Band 6.0 for IELTS (Academic Training); or
79-80 for TOEFL Internet-based Test (Academic Version); or
Level 109 for CIEP at ELS Language Centre; or
Any English Language Test which is equivalent to B2 in Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
