The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree is a one-year, research-only master’s degree. It's a great opportunity to explore a research topic of an applied or professional nature, under the supervision of AUT's expert academic staff.

The Master of Philosophy enables you to expand your research capabilities by focusing on a particular area of interest. It can provide a pathway to more advanced research at doctoral level.

AUT graduates are responsive early childhood, primary and secondary school teachers who are prepared for the challenges of future-focused education.

You’ll not only learn academic knowledge related to your programme, but also gain practical teaching experience in an early childhood centre or primary school where you’ll experience the classroom and the role of the teacher for yourself.

You complete an original thesis during this year of study.
