This practical, environmental science course includes field trips to some beautiful and remote parts of New Zealand. There, you'll look at the challenges facing New Zealand's clean, green image. What needs to be done to protect our world-famous environmentYou’ll learn about the biology and ecology of living species and habitats.Out in the field, you'll develop surveying skills in remote areas while gaining real life hands-on experience. Plus, you'll explore conservation issues and examine strategies to protect the environment.Environmental sustainability is also a focus. The knowledge gained from the course will help you to create sustainable practices within New Zealand.This course is designed as an entry to the Level 6 diploma, where you'll gain more advanced skills and knowledge. It includes a focus on research design and environmental and ecological reporting. You’ll also choose elective papers in biosecurity or aquaculture.
