Course Overview
This course has been designed specifically for mature students who have been out of full-time education for at least one year and do not have the relevant qualifications for entry to higher education. This course is designed for anyone who wants to undertake a career in a healthcare related field such as nursing, midwifery or radiography.
You will attend college three to four days a week between 9.30 and 3.30.
You will be assigned a personal tutor who will support you with your UCAS application and personal development.
Good time-management skills are necessary as assessment of the course is on an on-going basis.
The curriculum is structured so that core units are delivered together with the cohorts of the other Access courses in the college. You will have units taught by industry standard specialists in a variety of different healthcare roles and will have numerous guest speakers throughout the year. There are weekly tutorials where one to ones take place and you set your own targets for the development of specific skills and knowledge, including completion of the UCAS process.

Assessment
There will be numerous assignment tasks and short tests throughout the course and no end of course examinations.
You will be expected to meet all deadlines for assignment submission unless there are exceptional circumstances.
Where does this course lead to
This course is designed to get you to University and is worth between 48 and 144 UCAS points (for September entry), depending on the grade you achieve.
