**What does the course include?**The FdSc Computing (Software Engineering) is a Higher Education course offered in partnership with Middlesex University. It is designed to prepare you for a career in computing through a combination of theoretical and practical teachingFirst year units will include:- Academic Skills for Computing (Study Skills)- Programming with Data Structures & Algorithms- Database Management Systems- Work Based Learning- Introduction to Computer SystemsSecond year units will include:- Object Oriented Analysis & Design- Object Oriented Software Development- Project Development and Management- Software Development Project- Client/Server Web Systems Development **How is the course taught?**Considering the nature and curriculum a lot of emphasis is on practical and workshop based learning which aims to stretch and challenge individuals. Group work and independent research are other learning styles included which provides learners the opportunity to develop and enrich their profile to succeed in both higher studies and employment. As a Higher Education Student you are required to attend up to 11 hours of sessions which includes Lectures, workshops and seminars per week over 2, 15 week semesters in each year. You will experience a variety of learning opportunities and styles, including group work and individual research, although the emphasis is on practical, workshop based learning intended to stretch and challenge each individual.**Where does it lead?**The FdSc is a nationally and internationally recognised Level 5 qualification. It provides a basic grounding in the core areas of computing and software engineering and leads to new employment opportunities, career enhancement, and promotion prospects. The FdSc gives automatic subject exemption from many professional qualifications.Holders of the FdSc in Computing (Software Engineering) can study for one additional top-up year at Middlesex University to gain a computing degree (BSc)**Fees**Standard - £3,580 (subject to annual review)
