The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mathematics provides students with a comprehensive education in the mathematical sciences. The quantitative curriculum prepares students to solve complex and real world problems and comprehend mathematical concepts.

There are two tracks for the BS in Mathematics

The Applied Mathematics track prepares students for positions in industries, government, and postgraduate education in applied mathematics, statistics, or any related field.
The Pure Mathematics track prepares students for postgraduate education in pure mathematics.

Major Requirements (31 cr.)

All courses are 3 credit hours, unless otherwise designated.

Applicants must have a score of at least 630 on the General Educational Development (GED) test. English Language Requirements: Minimum TOEFL score of 71 or higher on the internet-based; TOEFL score 530 or higher paper-based exam; IELTS - 6.0 or higher; Pearson Test of English, Academic: 48 or higher; WAEC's Senior Secondary Certificate of Examinations (SSCE): A or B; Ordinary Level Certificate: A or B; Cambridge International O Levels: C or higher; (Test in Practical English Proficiency) "EIKEN": Pre-1 or higher.

Students who have not attended college or university after graduating from high school and wish to earn a first bachelor’s degree are first-year students. Students who took dual-enrolled college coursework while still in high school are also considered first-year students. In general, we recommend that students complete college preparatory coursework that includes: Eight semesters of English or the language of instruction, Six to eight semesters of mathematics, Six to eight semesters of natural sciences (biology, chemistry, physics), Six semesters of social science (economics, government, history, psychology, or sociology), Eight semesters of foreign language, fine arts, computer science, or technical skills, Two semesters of health, physical education, or safety.

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) internet based - 71 or higher

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) paper based - 530 or higher

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - 6.0 or higher

Test in Practical English Proficiency - Pre-1 or higher

SAT I Critical Reading - 450 or higher (or the equivalency on the new evidence-based reading and writing section)
