Keiser University’s Master of Arts in Homeland Security provides an intensive study of topics related to protecting the U.S. from threats to Homeland Security. Coursework fosters independent learning and enables students to contribute intellectually to areas of homeland security, border patrol and cyber security. Graduates will be prepared to pursue opportunities on the border and in airports, seaports and waterways. They’ll have the background needed to research and develop security technologies; respond to natural disasters or terrorist assaults; analyze intelligence reports, and perform other duties related to homeland security.
Keiser has a signed memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Department of Homeland Security to help grow the DHS workforce in homeland security and cybersecurity. This agreement will help Keiser graduates stay up-to-date on DHS career opportunities, as well as potential scholarships and internships. Keiser’s MA in Homeland Security offers the insights, expertise, and credential to go far in the DHS.
What Can You Expect to Learn
Keiser University’s MAHS program enables students to contribute to the homeland security profession and fosters independent learning. Students will learn how to:
Collaborate with community stakeholders to create prevention, deterrence, preemption, defense, and response strategies and systems
Use technological and scientific research focused on the evolution of existing science and technology and/or the development of new science/and technology that contribute to homeland security
Evaluate domestic security challenges that face the United States and other industrialized nations
Propose changes at federal, state and local levels, to reflect the evolving strategic homeland security policy issues
Recognize terrorist groups’ activities in order to forecast the risks, types, and orders of magnitude of terrorist threats most likely to emerge
Define and describe the statutory, policy, strategy and legal differences between homeland security and homeland defense
Assess existing policies, procedures and protocols by DHS and the inter-agency community for seamless agency integration through prevention, protection, and incident response and recovery scenarios
Explore interdisciplinary perspectives on, and approaches to, homeland security.

Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution. Students complete their capstone course in their last semester of enrollment.? No elective courses are offered in this program.
The applicant must present a TOEFL score of 500 or higher on a paper-based examination, a score of 173 on a computer-based examination, an internet-based score (iBT) of 61, or an IELTS score of 6.0 or higher.
