The University of Wyoming’s History Department offers graduate students the opportunity to work with internationally recognized faculty in an array of specializations and methodologies, with special concentration in the American West in a global context. In addition to our strengths in United States, U.S. Western and Native American history, we offer coursework covering Modern Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and Central and East Asia. M.A. students at the University of Wyoming have access to full funding opportunities through Graduate Assistantships, research grants, and other sources.
Candidates for the Master of Arts degree in History are required to complete a minimum of 31 hours of graduate (5000) level credit. Students must complete 27 hours of coursework, with at least 24 hours in history. This will include:

Applicants must have completed a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a regionally accredited institution. All applicants should have at least a 3.000 cumulative GPA (scale of 4.000). A GRE score of at least 150 on the verbal reasoning section and at least 141 on the quantitative reasoning section is required.
Minimum acceptable TOEFL score is 540 (76 iBT). The minimum acceptable IELTS score is 6.5.
