Ne öğreneceğim?

The MSN degree builds upon the foundation of concepts and skills acquired in undergraduate degrees in nursing. Concentrations include the Family Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Leader, Administrator, Educator or dual Educator/Administrator. Most of these roles are enacted in health systems to promote and support quality care, with Educators working in both clinical and academic settings. This degree prepares nurse leaders to work with teams and transform systems in clinical and academic settings, as well as in the communities served by those organizations.

The MSN degree is usually a part-time (6-7 credits per semester) program that is offered in a hybrid learning environment, a combination of in-class and online course instruction. This blended delivery mode is preferred by students allowing them face-to-face instruction without the demands of attending each week.

The Nurse Educator program prepares a student to teach clinical in a BSN program like SVSU, be a full-time faculty member for a community college ADN program like Delta College, be a staff development specialist at a hospital or skilled care facility, teach health careers in a skill center, or be a patient educator in a variety of settings.

The Nurse Administration program prepares a student to be a manager, supervisor, director of nursing, VP of Nursing or any administrative or specialist position supervising, directing, or advising nursing personnel and other disciplines in any health care setting.

The Clinical Nurse Leader is an advanced generalist who is an advanced generalist who helps complex patients move through systems and implements evidence based practice. This person is a blend of broad clinical expertise, leadership skills, and skilled in putting evidence into practice. It is a new role growing in popularity.

The Primary Care Family Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice nurse (APRN) who provides primary health care to clients of all types usually in an office or ambulatory setting, such as a health department.

All students in the MSN program complete the following MSN Core Courses and Capstone Courses (24 credits). All MSN students must select one of the following majors: Clinical Nurse Leader (total program = 36 credits), Nursing Education (total program = 39 credits), Nursing Administration (total program = 39 credits), or Primary Care Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP total program = 52 credits), or may elect to take both the education and administration majors.
