As 1 of only 3 graduate programs in Optical Sciences in the U.S., the Wyant College of Optical Sciences can help you get on the path to an exciting, fulfilling career in Optical Engineering, Image Science, Photonics, Optical Physics or Optomechanical Engineering. The Professional Graduate Certificate in Optical Sciences is designed for working professionals with bachelor’s, master's or doctoral degrees who would like to supplement their practical knowledge with formal coursework. The program’s rich variety of classes allows students the opportunity to explore the broad fundamentals of optical sciences or to choose courses of particular relevance to their immediate needs. In addition, students interested in the M.S. in Optical Sciences or Ph.D. in Optical Sciences may apply all units completed toward the Graduate Certificate program toward these higher degree programs.
Per Graduate College policy, the maximum amount of time for the completion of a Certificate in Optical Sciences is 4 years. Exceptions to the 4-year limit may be granted in exceptional circumstances. 15 units of enrollment in graduate level Optical Sciences courses are required for completion of the Graduate Certificate in Optical Sciences.

Certificate applicants should have an academic or work background in optics, physics, or engineering.
Minimum 2.75 GPA
(TOEFL) - minimum score of 79 iBT (or 60 on the revised PBT with no section score lower than 15); (IELTS) - minimum composite score of 7, with no subject area below a 6; Pearson PTE Academic - minimum score of 60; CEPT Full Academic test (link is external)- offered by our Center for English as a Second Language (CESL), minimum Total score of 110
