Nova Southeastern University’s Bachelor of Science in Secondary English Education with ESOL and Reading endorsements focuses on developing teachers who are equipped with the skills to promote academic excellence, equity, cultural awareness, and social responsibility in diverse educational settings. This program provides a comprehensive set of pedagogical courses specifically designed for English instruction and assessment. It features a specialty component that includes a variety of English, literature and speech communication courses that comprise the content of the Florida Department of Education-approved Secondary English Education major.

The courses are based on the Florida Standards and the current statewide assessment in English (grades 6–12). Course content is research-based and infuses best practices in education and strategies for teaching English as a second language (ESOL).
