Australian-trained archaeologists contribute to research, documentation and management of archaeological heritage in Australia and globally. The rapid expansion of archaeological work associated with development industries has created unprecedented demand for graduates with archaeological skills. Honours in Archaeology is the basic qualification for work in this field. UWA Archaeology Honours consists of two components. First are weekly seminars and visits to specialists on topics such as advanced theory, grant writing, resume building and interview skills, and topical issues in archaeology. Second is a research dissertation where students choose and follow through a supervised research topic. Students are part of a wider postgraduate community and have access to weekly departmental seminars, volunteer opportunities in the lab and field, and access to some of Australia and the world's leading archaeologists.
