The major in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology will provide you with a thorough understanding of the chemistry of life and the molecules that regulate living processes. This major emphasises how these molecules pass information and energy within and between cells, and from generation to generation, and how these processes impact form and function. This major is ideally suited for students who wish to study fundamental molecular processes that underlie normal physiology and disease in all kingdoms of life.The Bachelor of Science and Master of Nursing is a combined degree program that will develop your skills in critical thinking, while exploring different branches and interest in science. You will complete degree core and junior elective units and a major from the Science disciplinary pool. Additionally, you will any elective units as needed to make up the required credit points for the course taken from the disciplinary pool or the shared pool.Your first year will be made up of only science units and you will commence nursing subjects from second year onwards. You must meet a satisfactory academic standard to progress to the Master of Nursing. You will commence units comprising coursework and a substantial amount of practical work, with over 800 hours of clinical placements in the nursing component of your degree.
