Food technology combines the basic chemical and biological sciences and their application to the quality, safety, nutritive value, processing and storage of food. It is based in chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, microbiology, and biometry, and is the science underpinning the food industry – the largest manufacturing industry in Australia. Research honours students will have the opportunity to delve deeply into a particular aspect of their chosen food and its manufacturing process by completing either a research focused or industry focused project.
