You can build on your undergraduate experience, diversify your skills in a different specialisation or change your career and become a fully-accredited engineer. If you have a degree in a different field, such as science, mathematics or pharmacy and want to pursue a career in engineering, the three-year conversion course gives you the technical skills and knowledge you need to become a practising engineer. There are five engineering specialisations to choose from: chemical, civil, electrical, materials and mechanical. Giving you the opportunity to pursue your interests and career goals, or deepen your existing knowledge.

Undertake Continuous Professional Development and apply for a Work Integrated Learning program placement with our partner organisations for valuable professional and industry experience. Build on your technical knowledge, gain practical experience and develop the professional skills and confidence to create positive change.

Prepare for a top-level job in infrastructure – grow your expertise in the design of steel and timber structures, geomechanics, building technologies, bridge design, computational methods, and much more, in units taught by industry experts. Acquire the technical knowledge essential to design, construct, improve and lead infrastructure projects. Focus on a particular area by selecting a stream in structure, transport or water.

Entry level 1:
Duration: 3 years full-time (144 points to complete)
An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) with at least high credit (65%) average and prior studies in mathematics (inc. Linear Algebra and Calculus), physics and/or chemistry as required by the specialisation chosen for admission:
Chemical engineering: prior studies in mathematics (12 credit point Monash equivalent) and chemistry (12 credit point Monash equivalent).
Civil engineering: prior studies in mathematics (12 credit point Monash equivalent) and physics (12 credit point Monash equivalent).
Electrical engineering: prior studies in mathematics (12 credit point Monash equivalent) and physics (12 credit point Monash equivalent).
Materials engineering: prior studies in mathematics (12 credit point Monash equivalent) plus physics (12 credit point Monash equivalent) or chemistry (12 credit point Monash equivalent).
Mechanical engineering: prior studies in mathematics (12 credit point Monash equivalent) and physics (12 credit point Monash equivalent).
Entry level 2:
Duration: 2 years full-time (96 points to complete) A three or four-year Bachelor of Engineering degree in a discipline relating to the specialisation studied within the Master course, as approved by the faculty, with at least high credit 65% average.
Applicants who hold a three-year Engineering Technologist degree at least equivalent to the first three years of a related Engineering degree accredited under the Washington Accord may be considered also.
