The Bachelor of Medical Sciences (BMSc) degrees are four-year undergraduate degrees offered jointly by the Faculty of Science and the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. This degree program is designed for students interested in advanced study in the basic medical sciences and focuses on all aspects of biology that define and influence the human condition. Biochemistry is the study of molecules and mechanisms in living organisms. In biochemistry we explore the structure and function of the key biomolecules (proteins, lipids, carbohydrates and nucleic acids) that allow the growth and development of all organisms. The study of biological processes helps us to understand diseases and to see ways to a healthier existence.This module integrates the study of the related fields of biochemistry and cell biology to give students an understanding of how biological molecules come together to form the structures that make up cells, the fundamental units of life, and how these cells interact with one another in multicellular organisms.
