The Department of Biological Sciences offers both M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees. Students interested in a graduate program in the department should contact a potential supervisor from among the departmental research areas. Once the student has a supervisor in place the student can then apply for admission to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Potential students should consult the Graduate Student Regulations for admission requirements. All current and potential graduate students should review the award and scholarship opportunities available. The Ph.D. option consists of coursework and a substantial research component. Biological Sciences Graduate Student Association (BSGSA)The BSGSA supports graduate students through the organization of student-oriented events, provides information on academic resources, hosts student- and invited speaker- research seminars and provides a link between students and their community. All biology graduate students are automatically members of the BSGS.Faculty members at the Department of Biological Sciences offer a great breadth of research expertise and teaching excellence in areas of biological sciences, including gene regulation and development, microscopy, evolution, environmental physiology, animal behaviour, food web dynamics, invertebrate biology and population ecology.Expected Duration - 4 years.
