Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental disability that affects approximately 1 in 66 people in Canada. ASD affects an individual’s ability to interact and communicate with others, learn and behave. ASD is a spectrum disorder which means that each individual will experience these deficits in different ways and to different degrees.Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is the science of behaviour. ABA focuses on observable, environmental elements that affect behaviour. The best known application of ABA has been its use as a treatment for ASD and other developmental disabilities, however it should be noted that the principles of ABA are applicable to everyone who behavesThis program teaches students how to use behaviour analysis to teach socially significant skills to improve the quality of life for individuals with ASD and other disabilities and their families.The Association for Behavior Analysis International has verified the following courses toward the coursework requirements for eligibility to take the Board Certified Behavior Analyst® or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst® examination. Applicants will need to meet additional eligibility requirements and demonstrate they reside in an authorized country and province [Canada] before they can be deemed eligible to take the examination.
