Students are required to complete a minimum of ?18 in coursework and a thesis.

A maximum of ?6 in coursework may be taken from outside the Faculty of Native Studies with consent of the Faculty.
Thesis
Registration in 900-level THES. Students must complete and successfully defend a thesis.
Language Requirement
Proficiency in a language other than English (including an Aboriginal language) is recommended in accordance with the thesis topic.
Length of Program
Full-time MA students will normally be expected to complete the program in two years.
The maximum time to complete the thesis-based MA program as set by the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research is four years.

Minimum admission requirements are an undergraduate degree with an admission GPA of at least 3.0 on the 4- point scale from the University of Alberta, or an equivalent qualification and standing from a recognized institution.
