The Animal Science (MSc) program prepares you for a career that fits your passion, whether it is in the field of behaviour, genetics, nutrition or physiology of farm animals. The program blends basic and applied sciences in animal production technology, preparing graduates to respond to changes in the animal industry. The Department of Animal Science offers graduate instruction leading to MSc and PhD degrees in the fields of animal health, genetics, nutrition, physiology, gut microbiology, meat science and immunology related to livestock and poultry.In our graduate programs, you can study and research in several disciplines related to animal science. These include nutrition (monogastric and ruminant), physiology (digestive, environmental, reproductive), animal welfare (health, production, behaviour), meat science, food safety and basic sciences (immunology, microbiology, molecular biology). Our main species of interest include cattle (beef and dairy), poultry (chickens, laying hens, turkeys), swine and wildlife (bison).

The following are minimum requirements to be considered for entry into the Master of Science (Animal Science) program.To qualify for the Animal Science (MSc) program, you must have a minimum ofA Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree with a major in Animal Science.Students with other degrees (bachelor of science honours or general) may be accepted. In these instances, students may be required to complete a pre-master's program or to register for courses additional to those normally required in the master's program.A minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 in the last two full years of undergraduate study is required. The master programs require a minimum one year of study and research.Before submitting a formal application through the Faculty of Graduate Studies, potential graduate students are required to take the following steps
