Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering - Mining Engineering (Thesis-based)

Our program includes the Alberta Chamber of Resources Chair in Mining Engineering, the Canada Research Chair in Natural Resources Uncertainty Management, and the Centre for Computational Geostatistics.Mining engineers design surface and underground mines, supervise the construction of mine shafts and tunnels in underground operations, and devise methods for transporting minerals to processing plants. Students take courses in blasting/explosives, rock mechanics, economics, all branches of mining, business and environmental issues, as well as core engineering courses in mechanical, civil, electrical, and chemical engineering. The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering and the School of Mining & Petroleum Engineering offers undergraduate and graduate students some of the finest instruction and facilities in North America.
