If you achieve First or Second Class First Division Honours in your BSc(Hons), you’ll be eligible for direct entry to a PhD. Postgraduate study in Applied Mathematics focuses on mathematical and computational models to formulate and solve real-world problems from a variety of areas within science and technology. From analysing the most efficient way to schedule airline routes between cities, to the effects and safety of new drugs, applied maths is a good foundation to apply alongside many other sciences. You will learn how to build mathematical models, how to formulate mathematical ideas for useful modeling, alongside learning about the solutions of models.Geography explores how our social and biophysical worlds came to be the way they are, and how they are changing. Geographers focus on understanding the things that matter for people in their many places, and on what needs to be done to address environmental change, uneven development and social inequality on multiple scales. Geography addresses a wide range of contemporary challenges such as: climate change and sea-level rise, dirty rivers, uneven economic development, sustainable communities, migration, housing and health policy, urban pollution, indigenous rights, and environmental management.
