The Pre-Elementary Education program is designed as a NKU transfer pathway. Clermont will prepare individuals as they begin their quest to become a teacher in grades kindergarten through 5th grade. Education is the profession of teaching. Teachers act as coaches, using interactive discussions and "hands-on" approaches to help students learn and apply concepts in subjects such as science, mathematics and English. They provide the tools and the environment for their students to learn abstract concepts, solve problems and develop critical thought processes.

A bachelor’s degree in education is the minimum educational requirement for entering the teaching profession. This program provides you with the first two years toward completion of your bachelor’s degree.

Success

To succeed in pre-elementary education, you must have the ability to communicate, inspire trust and confidence, motivate students and understand their educational and emotional needs. You must be able to recognize and respond to individual and cultural differences. Flexibility and adaptability are important. You should also be organized, dependable, patient and creative. You must be able to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with other teachers, support staff, parents and members of the community. You should enjoy and respect young children.
