The Associate in Arts in Philosophy for Transfer (AA-T) degree at Contra Costa College is designed to help students develop important work and life skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication, as well as explore fundamental questions like "how do I live a good life?", "what is justice?", and "who am I?" Guided by a commitment to multicultural philosophical education and the values of truth, integrity, diversity, and equity, this program consists of courses that cultivate "the love of wisdom" (the literal meaning of philosophy) and empower students for holistic success- in the classroom, workplace, community, and beyond. Pursuant to SB1440, section 66746, a student must complete the following requirements in order to earn an AA-T in Philosophy: • Completion of 60 semester units or 90 quarter units that are eligible for transfer to the California State University (CSU), including the CalGETC GE requirements • A minimum of 18 semester units or 27 quarter units in a major or area of emphasis • Obtain a minimum grade point average of 2.0. • Minimum grade of ''C'' (or ''P'') for each course in the major, and • Completion of CalGETC GE requirements The AA-T in Philosophy requires a total of 18 major units of required courses and restricted electives from the categories below as indicated. A minimum grade of ''C'' is required in all courses.
