In keeping with this notable distinction, Florida Tech’s PhD aviation sciences degree is one of the first doctoral aviation programs in the nation, and is accredited by the Aviation Accreditation Board International.Designed to prepare students with an understanding of the critical issues facing the industry, the aviation sciences PhD program incorporates a combination of theory and practice related to aviation human factors, aviation safety, and airport management and development. Applicants must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.2 in prior graduate coursework in order to be considered for admission to a Florida Tech doctoral degree program. Applicants to the Ph.D. in aviation sciences must hold a bachelors or masters degree from an accredited institution in aviation, aeronautical science, engineering or a closely related discipline. Competitive applicants demonstrate preparation in an aviation specialty, strong written and analytical capabilities and clear alignment with the programs primary research areas: human factors in aviation and aeronautics, aviation safety, airport development and management, aviation management and operations research in aviation.
