Students who complete the Bilingual/Bicultural teacher education (English-Spanish) sequence may be endorsed in elementary education and bilingual education. Bilingual Education student teaching must take place in the spring semester as part of a yearlong professional development school that supports the Bilingual/Bicultural sequence. The Elementary Teacher Education program at Illinois State will prepare you for a professional educator's license to teach grades 1-6. Throughout the coursework, teacher candidates will gain the professional knowledge and skills needed to become a highly effective educator, as well as approximately 300 hours of hands-on classroom experience prior to student teaching.
