Electronics Engineering Technology (EET) applies engineering theory for the solution of real world problems. The EET program at Pittsburg State University has a four-year curriculum which culminates in a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering Technology. The Electronics Engineering Technology program is fully accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission ABET.
Objectives
The Electronics Engineering Technology Program produces graduates that are valued by industry regionally and across the globe. We are preparing people to be successful in a variety of industry settings and across a wide spectrum of electronic venues.
Program Educational Objectives are general statements describing the characteristics our graduates exhibit within the first five years out of our program. The program educational objectives of our program state that Electronics Engineering Technology program graduates at a minimum will:
be sought after and employed by local and regional industry.
demonstrate the technical skills to support industry needs and/or solve technical problems.
demonstrate the knowledge and skill to operate across the breadth of the Electronics Engineering Technology discipline.
Outcomes
The Electronics Engineering Technology program adheres to a goal of having its all of its students able to demonstrate their mastery of subject matter based upon their personal performances. These performances include work in both traditional classwork based and laboratory based settings. The performances are designed to demonstrate learned capabilities that have occurred over the span of our curriculum.
The learned capabilities in their broadest classification match our program’s accreditation standards and most importantly our regional industry desires for abilities they want in their new hires. There are eleven general capabilities that are expected of our graduates:
a. an ability to select and apply the knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of the discipline to broadly-defined engineering technology activities;
b. an ability to select and apply a knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to engineering technology problems that require the application of principles and applied procedures or methodologies;
c. an ability to conduct standard tests and measurement; to conduct, analyze, and interpret experiments; and to apply experimental results to improve processes;
d. an ability to design systems, components, or processes for broadly-defined engineering technology problems appropriate to program educational objectives;
e. an ability to function effectively as a member or leader on a technical team;
f. an ability to identify, analyze, and solve broadly-defined engineering technology problems;
g. an ability to apply written, oral, and graphical communication in both technical and non-technical environments; and an ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature;
h. an understanding of the need for and an ability to engage in self-directed continuing professional development;
