Admission requirements Individual program admission requirements over and above admission to NAU are required. All applicants are expected to make email contact with potential faculty members in the department BEFORE APPLYING. Applicants should only apply if a mentor agrees to support the applicant. Knowledge of biology at the baccalaureate level. One of the following: An earned thesis-based MS degree in a biological or related science Demonstrated research ability by being a responsible author on a scientific, peer-reviewed publication (journal article) Have equivalent credentials to the above, which may include considerable relevant research experience, average GRE scores above the 70th national percentile in Verbal, Quantitative, and Writing Ability, experience presenting scientific papers as an author at regional, national, or international scientific meetings, with reference letters attesting to the student's performance and responsibility for the science reported at such venues. Essay/Letter of Intent/Personal Statement. Recommendation(s)/Reference(s).Applicants must have earned a bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution and a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 out of a 4.0 scale to be considered for regular admission. Admitted students are expected to have undergraduate educational experiences, including general education studies, that are similar to those required for a baccalaureate at Northern Arizona University. Applicants who have earned their degree(s) from an international institution must submit official transcripts directly from the university or college. The transcripts must be in the original language of the country accompanied by an English translation.
