No matter your academic background, the Master of Arts in English (MAE) degree can be a powerful tool for your future success. The MAE is 30 credit hour degree program which allows you to take an array of composition and rhetoric, creative writing, and technical writing courses, as well as, if you choose, courses from other NKU graduate programs. The MAE also qualifies area high school English teachers for advancement in rank and pay.

A bachelors degree in English or a related field from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in major or cognate area coursework. Candidates with excellent writing skills and degrees outside English may be considered.

English Language Requirements:

The minimum scores for admission to programs are below. Keep in mind that you only need to submit ONE of the following:

TOEFL: 79 IBT or 550 PBT

IELTS: 6.5 band

Application deadline: Spring, Fall, Summer: Rolling.
