The Master of Health Administration degree, provides the comprehensive curriculum needed to succeed as a manager or leader in a highly complex, competitive and ever-changing health care environment. This 36-credit program examines both practical and theoretical problems and challenges in the field, and provides an understanding of a wide range of topics including organizational structures, health care policy analysis and healthcare management.Your plan of study is comprised of 18 credits of foundation courses, including: "Principles of Public Administration," "Organizational Theory and Behavior in the Public Sector," "Economic Environment and the Public Sector," "Analytical Methods," "Computer-based Management Systems" and "The Policy Process in Health Care Administration."The Advanced Core Curriculum (nine credits) explores various aspects of public sector administration, with courses including: "Human Resource Administration," "Fundamentals of Budgeting and Finance," and "Administrative Responsibility and the Legal Environment." Nine credits of electives and a thesis round out the program. Students matriculating on a full-time basis can complete this program in just over two years. All M.H.A courses meet in-person on the LIU Post campus, and are available on both evenings and weekends.The M.H.A. program at LIU Post prepares students for service in executive and managerial-level positions public, nonprofit, and health care organizations. Our graduates are currently serving in the hospitals and health care practices local and national nonprofits and local, state, and federal government positions.
