The master’s degree in English Education (Grades 7-12, Preparation) prepares graduates to be effective and engaging educators, fostering a love of writing, reading, English literature, and the language arts in their students. This program prepares students with an English or literature background to teach in secondary education settings. Graduates will deepen knowledge of English content while developing skills in integration of media and technology, multi-level teaching, and standards-based assessment, all with an emphasis on fostering educational experiences welcoming to all learners. This program aligns with the professional standards of the National Council for Teachers of English, and meets the academic requirements for initial and professional New York State teacher certification in English Language Arts (grades 7-12).
