36-credit hour program designed to provide a fundamental understanding of the application of scientific techniques to forensic investigations and the criminal justice system. This degree is designed for students pursuing forensic science careers that are not primarily laboratory-based. Examples include crime scene investigation, medicolegal death investigation, some latent prints or firearms analysis positions, legal studies, federal intelligence agencies, or positions in local or federal law enforcement. Students that are primarily interested in careers in laboratory-based positions should consider the Forensic Science Advanced Laboratory MS. This program is also recommended for crime laboratory positions in latent prints or firearms analysis depending on the student’s science background.
