Physiologists study the functions of living organisms or their parts, with emphasis on the functional interrelationships between healthy, as opposed to diseased, tissues, cells and sub-cellular components. Increasingly, the discipline has focused on the properties of single cells and their sub-cellular components and, in this respect, has much in common with molecular biology. However, whether at the level of the single cell or the whole organism, the aim of the physiologist is to understand those complex functional interrelationships between body tissues. Our program offers a core curriculum designed to provide a fundamental knowledge base in: physiology molecular biology biochemistry biostatistics and current research topics in physiology, plus we incorporate flexibility for each student to develop both an academic and research program centered on their individual interests.
