Criteria

To be eligible for these awards, recipients must be:

Full-time or part-time students at MacEwan University; and

Be a declared major (History and Philosophy) or minor (Classics, French, Spanish) and returning for at least one more term in a bachelor's degree program at MacEwan (exceptions noted below)

CLASSICS:

Classics Tyrtaeus Award

Recognition of academic success and outstanding achievement in Greek, Latin, or Classics, with an emphasis on an ancient language.

Classics Livius Award

Recognition of academic success and outstanding achievement in Classics, Greek, or Latin, with an emphasis on Classics.

Note: the recipients of these awards do not necessarily need to be enrolled in the Classics minor.

FRENCH:

French Achievement Award

Recognition of outstanding academic achievement in advanced-level French.

Note: The recipient of this award must be enrolled in the French minor.

French Engagement Award

Recognition of outstanding participation and academic contributions in French.

Note: The recipient of this award does not necessarily need to be enrolled in the French minor.

HISTORY:

Best History Essay

Recognition of writing the best History paper in an advanced-level History course.

Note: Advanced-level means 300- or 400-level courses.

History Achievement Award

Recognition of outstanding academic achievement in advanced-level History courses.

Note: Advanced-level means 300- or 400-level courses.

PHILOSOPHY:

Philosophical Achievement Award

Recognition of outstanding academic achievement in advanced-level Philosophy courses

Note: Advanced-level means 300- or 400-level courses.

Philosophical Engagement Award

Recognition of outstanding participation and academic contributions in Philosophy.

SPANISH

Spanish Achievement Award

Recognition of outstanding academic achievement in advanced-level Spanish.

Note: The recipient of this award must be enrolled in the Spanish minor.

Spanish Engagement Award

Recognition of outstanding participation and academic contributions in Spanish.

Note: The recipient of this award does not necessarily need to be enrolled in the Spanish minor.
