The main purpose of the Scholarship is to encourage interest in research in the field of ageing at the start of a career, and throughout the individual’s productive research life, by supporting master and doctoral level research at the University of Auckland.
The Scholarship may be awarded to candidates who are enrolled and have paid the fees, or arranged to pay the fees, for full-time or part-time enrolment in a masters thesis or dissertation, or a full-time or part-time doctoral thesis at the University of Auckland on a topic related to ageing. Applications will be accepted from a wide range of disciplines in line with the HOPE Foundation for Research on Ageing’s objectives of encouraging and supporting multi-disciplinary innovative academic research into the concept of Positive Ageing and the necessity for good ageing.

The basis of selection shall be academic merit as assessed by the grade point average (GPA) or grade point equivalent (GPE) obtained over the most recent qualifying programme, the alignment of the candidate’s research purpose to the aims and objectives of the HOPE Foundation for Research on Ageing, and two academic references. In order to assess applications, support documentation including, but not limited to, CV, research methodology, budget and how the grant will be spent, may be requested. The candidate’s supervisor will be required to supply a budget plan for the project.
