Our Mechanical Design specialisation will enable you to enhance the skills and methods that engineers use to identify and solve problems.This specialisation will enhance your skills in design and manufacturability while also strengthening your ability to communicate to stakeholders unique solutions using a combination of graphical, oral, presentation and written skills.It will also equip you with practical and creative design skills that are combined with a human centred design thinking approach, as well as offering experiential learning opportunities and facilities to prototype and test physical designs. The Bachelor of Engineering Honours (Mechanical Engineering) is an undergraduate coursework program that will develop your ability to design, manage and maintain a diverse range of mechanical applications. Through practical learning and industry experiences, you will be ready to transform the use of machines across a range of innovative and emerging industries.This course is accredited by Engineers Australia and other major professional engineering institutions. You will complete degree foundational core units in mathematics and computing, along with a suite of multidisciplinary project units.You will also complete stream core and specialist elective units in mechanical engineering, and can choose to complete an optional specialisation. Additionally, you will complete elective units as needed to make up the requirements of the course from either the Engineering disciplinary pool or the shared pool.In your final year, you will complete an honours thesis in mechanical engineering. Throughout your degree, you will undertake professional engagement activities as part of the Professional Engagement Program, including engineering work experience in the final year.
