Bachelor of Food Science and Nutrition

Murdoch University

Food plays a vital role in human health, wellbeing and global sustainability. Our Bachelor of Food Science and Nutrition equips you with the scientific knowledge and practical skills to understand how food is produced, processed and used to support healthy communities. Throughout your food science and nutrition course, you’ll explore the relationship between food, nutrition and health while building expertise in areas such as food chemistry, microbiology, food safety and human nutrition. You’ll learn how nutrients function in the body, how food products are developed and how safe, high-quality food is produced for diverse populations. Your learning combines scientific theory with hands-on experience in laboratories and food production settings. With access to the Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct and specialised teaching facilities, you’ll work with industry-standard equipment to analyse food composition, assess quality and safety, and develop food products that meet nutritional and regulatory standards.
