The Bachelor of Information Technology and Systems (BITS) focuses on delivering knowledge and skills in computer networking, application development and computer-based software to meet the current IT industry needs. The Bachelor of IT course ensures that graduates develop a broad and coherent body of knowledge in the underlying principles and concepts of information technology. BITS provides students with the opportunity to explore and identify critical IT industry demands and to understand how these demands are met.
BITS course at VIT is designed to produce graduates who have a strong industry focus and who have demonstrated the full range of knowledge and skills gained through a relevant project in the final year. Pursuing BITS at VIT also prepares the candidate for IT industry certifications in the fields of networking, systems administration, and programming.
The BITS degree offers units across the complete spectrum of the Bachelor of Information Technology, including the study of hardware, software, networking, security, database, and programming technologies and includes relevant cognitive, technical and communication skills.
Qualification Rule
To attain the Bachelor of Information Technology and Systems qualification, 24 units (144 Credit Points) including all core units must be achieved: Core Units: 13; Elective Units: 11. To attain specialisation, students should select Stream 1, 2, 3 or 4 at Level 2 and follow through the same stream at Level 3 and complete at least 5 elective units in the chosen specialisation stream with a minimum of 3 specialisation electives at Level 3.

Completion of senior high school to the Australian Year 12 or equivalent
Mathematics Standards Mathematics & Statistics (Australian Year 11 equivalent)
An English Language proficiency level of one of the below:
Cert IV in EAL / Academic IELTS band score of 6.0 or equivalent, with no band lower than 5.5. or equivalent
Satisfactorily completed ELICOS at to at least Advanced level
Completion of any Australian AQF Diploma or higher qualification
Satisfactorily completion of at least one semester of study in Australia in a tertiary course (satisfactorily for this purpose would mean that the applicant has completed 50% or more of the semester load)
The Dean may also recommend unconditional admission based on other demonstrably equivalent evidence such as an acceptable GCE A Level English score. This would need to be considered and approved by the appropriate VIT committee
