Paramedics are vital members of all communities – from small towns to large cities – providing lifesaving and essential healthcare. In this course, you will gain the knowledge and skills to work as a paramedic in Australia and internationally. It is suitable for those who are new to paramedicine and professionals in emergency services or healthcare who want to advance their current career. Curtin is currently undergoing an assessment for this program to be accredited by the Paramedicine Accreditation Committee and approved by the Paramedicine Board of Australia. Develop real-world experience before you graduate. Learn how work-integrated learning helps you build career skills and connect with industry early. In this course, you’ll be taught by paramedics with expertise in emergency ambulance settings, tactical operations, rescue services, rural/remote practice and industrial contexts.You’ll gain the fundamental skills of out-of-hospital emergency care, including evidence-based clinical best practice, emergency and crisis management, and effective communication. To acquire your practical skills efficiently, you’ll utilise simulation laboratories and engage in high-fidelity simulation exercises. You’ll then complete clinical placements and simulation exercises with ambulance, emergency and healthcare services. You may also participate in further, optional training and agency placements.
