The Certificate IV in Ageing Support is a nationally recognised qualification for individuals seeking to work in advanced support roles within aged care settings, including residential, home and community-based environments.

This course is designed for support workers who undertake specialised tasks and functions and who may be required to take greater responsibility within their role. Training focuses on supporting older people through person-centred care, contributing

to quality service delivery, and assisting with the development and review of individualised care plans.

Students develop skills to work within organisational policies and procedures, support care teams, and contribute to the delivery of safe, effective and dignified aged care services.

A mandatory work placement component enables students to apply their skills in real aged care environments and meet competency requirements.

This qualification reflects the role of support workers who provide advanced assistance to older people and who may demonstrate leadership within defined organisational guidelines.

Graduates may contribute to the planning, delivery and review of individualised services, while maintaining quality standards and supporting person-centred approaches to care.

Skills and knowledge are applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian Standards, and relevant industry codes of practice.

To be awarded this qualification, students must complete a minimum of 120 hours of mandatory work placement, as specified in the assessment requirements of the units of competency.
