Ne öğreneceğim?

The study of Francophone Studies and Languages engages students in the exploration of critical thinking and intercultural acumen: perspectives, traditions, customs, literatures become more understandable when they can be approached directly through the primary language. It is one of the cornerstones of a liberal arts and sciences education.

The field of French and Francophone Studies emphasizes French language, literature and culture, including influential recent work in various fields of the humanities. Courses on Francophone subjects encourage students to explore the literatures and cultures of French-speaking nations and regions beyond Eurocentric perspectives. Students may wish to focus on the evolution of fiction, theatre, poetry or film others may opt for cultural, theoretical, or sociological issues others may wish to focus on the French language as it relates to professional and technical settings. But all students will have acquired at least some acumen in each of the three complementary concentrations of the degree: Language Studies, French and Francophone Studies, and Theory. All concentrations acquire proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking in French, a familiarity with the long literary tradition of the field, and an awareness of current intellectual and cultural trends.

With a major concentration students will not only immerse themselves in a comprehensive program in higher learning, but they will also be able to choose various courses that will satisfy their interests.
