Sociology explores the countless ways in which human interaction shapes our culture, and employs the ideas of leading social theorists for comprehensive answers. As a StFX Sociology student, you will be introduced to innovative methods of looking at the social world, human behaviour, and societies.Sociology students are among the most active at StFX, a quality often attributed to the professors who give you the tools you need to ask the tough questions, make informed social choices, and become personally engaged in change. You will explore different vantage points and gain access to in-house expertise in areas including social movements, the environment, the various forms of social inequality, and theories concerning racial equality, identity and the self, media and cultural studies, rural sociology, fisheries, criminology, disability studies, deviance, social difference, gender identity and more.Students of Sociology can pursue a number of program options, including: Major in Sociology Joint Major in Sociology Honours in Sociology Honours in Sociology with a Subsidiary

Students can submit predicted or anticipated results for early fall admission and scholarship purposes.For high school students the minimum admission requirements include an overall average of 70 percent in Grade 12 with no grade below 65 percent in each of the required subjects Admissions to limited enrolment programs is competitive meeting the minimum average does not guarantee admission.Please note students who are currently in grade 12 applying for early admission must have the program requirements in grade 11 and be registered in the program prerequisites in grade 12 to be eligible for an early offer Otherwise offers will be made after receipt of final first term grade 12 transcript.
