The School offers programs that allow for concentrated study in Art History or in Studio Art, or a combination of the two disciplines.The Studio Art program provides a thorough grounding in contemporary art practice, art history, theory, and criticism. Courses are offered in drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, computer graphics, and experimental studio. Studio Art majors must also take a selection of courses in art history.Students wishing to declare the SART minor must have a cumulative average of 70 or higher in the following courses. Students who have not been admitted directly into the major must also meet these requirements in order to declare a SART major.Regardless of your career path, the skills and experience derived from the Studio Art program prime you for the future. The secondary school graduation certificate which would admit a student to an internationally recognized university in their home country is normally acceptable for admission to the University of Guelph.Students presenting predicted, interim or midterm grade 12/senior level results may be considered for a conditional offer of admission if all prerequisite courses are completed or in progress and meeting the minimum grade requirements. International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma with 6 subjects: 3 Higher Level and 3 Standard Level with a minimum score of 28. Bonus marks from TOK and EE will be taken into consideration. Prerequisites for the major must be taken at the IB DP2 level.Note: For programs with Advanced Math, students must present one of: SL/HL Analysis & Approaches, or HL Applications & Interpretations. Math Studies/Standard Level Applications and Interpretations are not an acceptable prerequisite for programs that require Advanced Math or Calculus.
