International Year One (UTP Stage II): Arts is equivalent to the first year of Toronto Metropolitan University’s Bachelor of Arts degree.
International Year One (UTP Stage II): Arts is a first-year studies option that lets you explore social science and humanities programs areas before applying to your program of choice for your second year. All courses that you successfully complete in the Arts program will be credited to the selected Toronto Metropolitan University major.
Students can also choose electives from a wide range of areas including marketing, human resources and business – many of which can lead to a minor.
International Year One (UTP Stage II): Arts Program Structure
During the International Year One (UTP Stage II): Arts program, you will study courses that introduce you to a wide range of disciplines including psychology, philosophy, politics and environment.
Upon successful completion of International Year One (UTP Stage II): Arts, including achieving a 1.67 CGPA (or 3.0 for Psychology), students will progress into their chosen Arts major at TMU, with double majors as appropriate, and a minimum of 10.0 credits.

The minimum age requirement at TMUIC is 17 years old. Students must turn 17 by the last day of their first semester to be admitted.
Academic Entry Requirements
Entry into International Year One (UTP Stage II) generally requires the successful completion of Year 12 of secondary school or its equivalent with overall and individual subject requirements depending on program.
Direct Entry
If you meet the direct entry English language requirement and meet the relevant academic requirements for your country, you will be eligible for direct entry to International Year One (UTP Stage II). Direct entry includes a non-credit support course called Introduction to our Learning Community (ILC101). This program is designed to be completed in three terms.
Integrated Entry
If you meet the integrated entry English language requirement and the relevant academic requirements for your country, you will begin International Year One (UTP Stage II) and will take ILC101, two academic courses and two required integrated tutorials to support your academic courses in your first term of study. This program is designed to be completed in three terms.
