Completion of this course, when combined with seatime, will entitle you to apply for a Chief Mate certificate of competency and provides the required knowledge, skills and experience for eventual seagoing employment as a chief officer on board commercial ships.
Further mandatory seatime will entitle you to apply for the oral examination for a Master certificate of competency and provides you with the required knowledge, skills and experience for eventual seagoing employment as a master on board commercial ships.
Career opportunities
The chief officer and master on foreign-going ships. Shore-based leadership positions in the maritime cluster and port management, such as maritime pilots, marine managers, harbour masters, ship planners, cargo planners, accident investigators, maritime trainers and educators.
